French Early 20th Century Terra-cotta Bust by Raymond Couvègnes

1,200.00

A distinguished terra cotta bust from the early part of the 20th century. Made in France, the work depicts a female with long, braided pigtails and her hair parted down the center. An unemotional expression is worn on her face, now frozen in time. Raymond Couvègnes is the artist. He was born in France in 1893 and gained notoriety as an artist when repairing building/church façades damaged during World War I. He was a pioneer in moulded reinforced concrete as a medium for decorative embellishments to buildings.
